How to check if a phone charger is safe
PHONESCheap unbranded chargers can overheat and damage batteries. A few checks reduce the risk.
- Look for the BIS certification mark and registration number on Indian chargers
- Buy from the phone brand or a well known accessory brand
- Check the output matches your phone, for example USB-C Power Delivery for fast charging
- Stop using any charger that gets very hot, buzzes or smells of burning
Never charge a phone under a pillow or on a bed for long periods. Heat is the main enemy of batteries.
Look closely at the box and the charger body for the IS number and the BIS logo. If the seller cannot show it, skip that charger, however cheap it is.
