How to check if a website is safe before you buy

Fake shopping sites copy real brands and run ads with impossible discounts. A two minute check avoids most of them.

1. Check the spelling of the web address carefully
2. Search the store name plus the word review or scam
3. Look for a real address, phone number and return policy
4. Be wary if the only payment options are direct UPI transfers to a person
5. Prefer cash on delivery or a card for first orders from unknown stores

A padlock in the address bar only means the connection is encrypted. Scam sites can have one too.
