How to make your laptop webcam and mic sound better on calls

You do not need new gear to look and sound better on video calls. Light and position matter most.

1. Face a window or a lamp so light falls on your face, not behind you
2. Raise the laptop so the camera is at eye level
3. Wipe the camera lens
4. Use wired earphones with a mic instead of the laptop mic
5. Turn on noise suppression in your meeting app settings
6. Close other apps that use the camera or network

If you upgrade one thing, buy a simple clip-on mic or earphones with a good mic. People forgive average video but not bad audio.
