How to read a phone spec sheet without getting fooled
HYPEHype: the marketing is ahead of the product.
PHONESPhone ads lead with huge numbers. Many of them matter much less than they look.
- Megapixels: a 200MP camera is not automatically better than a 50MP one. Sensor size and software matter more.
- Charging watts: very high numbers often apply only to the first few minutes.
- RAM: beyond 8GB, most people notice little difference.
- Refresh rate: 120Hz is noticeable, beyond that hardly.
- Update promise: years of software updates matter more than almost any spec.
Read two or three independent reviews that test the camera and battery in real use before deciding.
