Using AI to study better without cheating yourself
AIAI can be a patient tutor or a shortcut that leaves you unprepared. How you use it decides which.
Good uses
- Ask it to explain a concept in simpler words, then explain it back in your own words
- Ask for practice questions on a chapter, then answer without help
- Paste your answer and ask what is missing
- Make a revision timetable from your syllabus
Uses that backfire
Copying generated answers into assignments teaches nothing, and teachers and plagiarism tools increasingly spot it. AI can also be wrong, so check facts against your textbook.
A good study prompt to try: "Ask me five questions on this chapter one at a time, wait for my answer, then tell me what I got wrong." It turns AI into a quiz partner instead of an answer machine.
