4G vs 5G: is 5G worth it on your phone right now?
MIXEDMixed: useful for some people, depends on how you use it.
PHONES5G can be much faster than 4G, but whether you notice depends on where you live and how you use your phone.
When 5G helps
- Downloading large games or videos
- Hotspot for a laptop
- Busy areas where 4G gets congested
When it does not matter much
Messaging, social media and normal video streaming already work well on decent 4G. If 5G coverage is patchy where you spend most time, your phone may keep switching and use more battery.
Check the coverage map of your network for your home and office before paying extra for a 5G phone or plan.
